Two people were taken to a hospital after a Sunday night shooting near a BREC park on Elvin Drive, an East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s spokeswoman said.
Four people were fired upon around 7:30 p.m., and two of them were struck by bullets — an adult and a juvenile who were treated for their wounds at the park on 1954 Elvin Drive off Burbank Drive, Casey Rayborn Hicks said.
The juvenile was grazed by a bullet, and the adult was hit once but is expected to recover, Hicks said.
Deputies roped off the park’s gravel driveway as well as a house next door, and investigators searched an area behind the house.
Investigators also examined a damaged, electric blue Cadillac in a grass lot next to the park. The car’s doors were open and its hood was up.
Investigators also searched around nearby houses for evidence.
Deputies blocked off Elvin Drive as far as two blocks away.
