Baton Rouge Police arrested a 41-year-old man accused of exposing himself to a 13-year-old girl, and then trying to kidnap her, on Sunday afternoon.

Police say Claude Mason approached the girl near East Brookstown Drive and exposed himself, according to the police report. Mason then tried to pull the girl into a waiting vehicle, but the girl managed to run away, the report says.

But as the girl fled, Mason took her phone and fled himself, according to the report. When the girl found police officers and pointed Mason out, Mason tried to hide under a home on Bank Street, the report says. He told police he thought the girl was a prostitute.

Mason, of 6430 Willow Grove, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison late Sunday on counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, simple robbery and simple kidnapping.

BR man booked in rape of 10-year-old

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 27-year-old man accused of raping a 10-year-old girl on Sunday.

Jerry Veal came into the girl’s room at a home in East Baton Rouge Parish and forced her clothes off before having sex with her, despite her repeated pleas to stop, according to the police report.

After the rape, Veal told the girl not to tell anyone, and she initially did not because she was afraid of him, the report says.

Veal, of 8045 Skysail Avenue, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on a count of aggravated rape.

Girlfriend shoved while holding infant son

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 29-year-old man accused of shoving his girlfriend against a wall as she held their four-month-old boy on Sunday.

After an argument escalated, deputies say, Jason Partin drunkenly shoved his girlfriend so hard that when she slammed into the wall, she had to bite into her toddler’s clothes so he wouldn’t fall to the floor, according to the police report.

The child’s head jerked back and forth during the close call, and moments later, Partin tried to wrench the boy from his girlfriend’s arms, but he was unsuccessful, according to the report.

Partin, of 17505 Jefferson Highway, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison early Monday on counts of domestic abuse battery with child endangerment, resisting arrest and cruelty to a juvenile.

Authorities book 2 on suspicion of DWI

Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Sunday and 2:30 p.m. Monday, booking records show.

Those booked and the counts against them:

Cornell Brown, 40, 2640 70th Ave., Baton Rouge, third-offense DWI, improper lane use, driver’s license suspended or revoked, open container violation and reckless operation.

Theddius Toussaint, 41, 6866 Buttonwood Drive, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, drinking in a motor vehicle, speeding, improper lane use, and reckless operation.
