A dump truck rear-ended a school bus full of children Monday morning when the truck driver’s foot slipped off the brake at a red light, a police spokesman said.
Mike Chustz, a spokesman for the East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Services, said paramedics transported the bus driver and two students to hospitals with minor injuries.
The incident occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of South Choctaw and Airway drives, Cpl. Don Coppola Jr., said.
The driver was cited for following too close, Coppola said.
The bus was carrying students bound for Belaire High School, said Keith Bromery, spokesman for East Baton Rouge Parish School System. He said there was damage to the back of the bus, but he was unsure as to the extent of the damage.
