A 58-year-old Paincourtville woman died in a two-vehicle crash Saturday on La. 308 north of Napoleonville, officials said.

Shortly before 5 p.m., Cheryl Hebert, 58, was driving a 2005 Toyota 4Runner south on La. 308, Louisiana State Police said. Katie Landry, 25, of Pierre Part, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Tahoe north on La. 308 when for unknown reasons, the Tahoe crossed the center line and struck the Toyota, police said.

Hebert was pronounced dead at the scene. Landry was transported to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital with serious injuries. Her condition is unknown at this time.

Neither Hebert nor Landry were wearing seat belts, State Police said.

Two passengers in the Toyota were also transported to a local facility with minor injuries.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in the crash, State Police said, and toxicology results for Landry are pending. The crash remains under investigation and criminal charges are pending.
