Police: Brass knuckles used in beating

Baton Rouge police on Friday arrested a 32-year-old man accused of punching a man in the face with brass knuckles.

Johnathan Banks was in the 2300 block of Jefferson Avenue on Monday when he hit the victim in the face with the weapon, according to an arrest warrant.

Banks’ brother, Christopher Banks, then pointed a gun at the victim and told him if he fought back, “I will kill you,” the warrant says.

The brothers then fled and the victim was taken to an area hospital. Johnathan Banks, 32, was booked Saturday into Parish Prison on counts of aggravated second-degree battery.

BR man, 21, accused in hospital attack

East Baton Rouge Parish sheriff’s deputies on Friday arrested a 21-year-old man accused of attacking emergency responders while high on synthetic marijuana.

Artdric Conner was being treated at an area hospital for symptoms tied to the street drug, also known as “Mojo,” according to an arrest report. In an ambulance en route to the hospital, Conner kept swearing at “visions” he was having, the report says.

When Conner arrived at the hospital, he punched several emergency room staffers, the report says. He was eventually handcuffed to a bed and sedated, the report says.
