The East Baton Rouge Parish school system has called not one, but two job fairs for next week to find teachers and paraprofessionals who are ready to start in January.

The first fair is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 10 and will focus on vacancies for certified elementary school teachers. The second fair is from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Dec. 11 and will focus on finding certified school teachers for middle and high school. Both will be held at the Instructional Resource Center, 1022 S. Foster Drive.

Keith Bromery, a spokesman for the school system, said the district is looking for about 50 teachers and paraprofessionals to fill current vacancies and some expected vacancies.

“We are anticipating retirements and other separations to bring the total number of vacancies by the end of the current calendar year to approximately 50,” Bromery said.

Participants should bring copies of their teaching certificates, university certification letters or verification of successful participation in an alternative certification program with them to the job fairs. Participants can fill out an online application in advance at www.applitrack.com/ebrschools/onlineapp.

The school system annually conducts midyear recruiting to fill vacancies, focusing especially on the fall graduates of local colleges and universities. At the beginning of the school year in August, the school system held two job fairs as well, one here and one in Pittsburgh.
