Citing impending severe weather, the East Baton Rouge Parish school system cancelled after-school activities for Thursday afternoon and evening for all its elementary schools, but middle and high school after-school activities will carry on as scheduled, said spokeswoman Adonica Duggan.

Middle and high schools let out at 2:25 p.m. and their after-school activities should be mostly done by the time the bad weather is expected to arrive, Duggan said, but elementary schools let out an hour later, late enough for the weather to affect after their school activities, weather that includes possible hail, heavy winds and isolated tornadoes.
