DONALDSONVILLE - The Ascension Parish School Board rejected a low bid for major renovations to Gonzales Primary School, voting to pull the bid from the consent agenda.
Chad Lynch, director of Planning and Construction for the school system, said the bid, at $7.77 million, came in nearly $1 million over the proposed budget of $6.8 million.
Lynch said his department would modify the plans in the next couple of weeks to try and pare down the cost of the project, then resubmit the job for adjusted bids in the next month or so.

PERSONNEL CHANGES: The board voted to appoint Kathryn Rice assistant principal at Dutchtown High School. Rice is currently principal of Pointe Coupee Central High School in Morganza.
