Redemptorist Elementary School principal Erica Walker has issued an apology after sending a text message that upset some parents last week, according to a WBRZ report.

The text message, sent to parents in kindergarten through seventh grade, addressed grooming standards for boys and said, “Nappy, Uncombed, Picked/Sponged' look Must Go,” WBRZ first reported.

“It is getting out of hand,” the text said. “If their haircut is higher than 1 inch it must be cut.”

In her apology, Walker said the text was meant to call parents’ attention to school regulations. She encouraged parents to contact the school if they have questions or concerns, WBRZ reported.
