The Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge, with the help of other local service organizations, will provide backpacks stuffed with school supplies Saturday to families preparing for the new school year.

The Salvation Army’s Back-to-School Bash will distribute resources and health information from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its Corps Community Center, 7361 Airline Highway.

Organizations, including the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, the Baton Rouge Fire Department and I CARE, will participate, The Salvation Army said in a news release.

This year’s bash will share information on safety and wellness services from Metro Health, LaCHIP, Louisiana Center for Eyes and Just Kids Dental, as well as other organizations, the release said.

“We are glad that we are able to make things just a little bit easier this summer for our working families that are trying to make ends meet,” Salvation Army Captain Brett Meredith said.
