Hollis Milton, superintendent of the West Feliciana Parish school system, suffered a heart attack on Thursday, school officials announced Friday.

Milton is “doing well and resting comfortably,” according to a prepared statement issued by Emma Uhle, executive assistant to the superintendent.

Uhle said early Friday afternoon that Milton had just been removed from the Intensive Care Unit at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary and expects to make a full recovery.

He is 42.

West Feliciana is one of the state’s top-rated school districts.

It was also one of the first in Louisiana to offer prekindergarten classes years before they became common statewide.

Uhle said Milton expects to return home Sunday.
