LSU’s Board of Supervisors approved Wednesday a new contract for incoming System President F. King Alexander worth $600,000 in annual base salary plus benefits.
Alexander, currently president of California State University in Long Beach, will also receive a $36,000 yearly housing allowance and a $15,000 per year vehicle allowance.
The contract terms are similar to his predecessor, John Lombardi’s pay package. Lombardi was fired in April 2012 over what the board described as his abrasive style of leadership.
Former LSU System President William Jenkins was tapped to serve as interim president soon after Lombardi’s termination.
Alexander is expected to assume leadership of LSU on July 1.
