The Southern University Board of Supervisors named Friday Adell Brown as the interim chancellor for the university’s Agricultural Research and Extension Center.

Brown has been vice chancellor for research at the Southern’s Ag Center, which coordinated research projects on agricultural productivity and nutrition. The Ag Center also conducts outreach programs to the agricultural and health communities.

Brown, who has worked at Southern for 39 years, also teaches economics and finance on the Southern University Baton Rouge campus.

He is also the Immediate Past President/Chair of the 100 Black Men of Metropolitan Baton Rouge, a non-profit organization aimed at helping the youth.

He will replace longtime Ag Center Chancellor Leodrey Williams, who is retiring, on July 1.
