After six months of effort, a citizens committee has completed work on a new strategic plan for the East Baton Rouge Parish school system.

It’s intended to replace a plan developed in 2005 and revised in 2008. The draft recommendations by the 33-member Committee for Educational Excellence are going to discussed by the parish School Board when it meets Thursday night.

School Board President Barbara Freiberg has already indicated she wants the next superintendent for the school system — a search is under way now — to give feedback on the plan before the board approves it.
