Washington Watch: Scalise getting into the fundraising flow _lowres

Nearly a week has passed since Louisiana 1st District U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise apologized for speaking to a white nationalist group in 2002, and, while national attention appears to have died down in the days since, Politico.com reports that some insiders think the controversy could threaten any future political ambitions Scalise holds.

With quick backing from U.S. House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (not to mention supportive comments from Louisiana’s only black and only Democratic Congressman, Cedric Richmond), Scalise appears safe in keeping his influential House Minority Whip position — the GOP’s No. 3 in command in the chamber.
