Under fire, the state Department of Transportation and Development announced Tuesday that it will reinstall a red light at the corner of East Boyd Drive and Burbank Drive.
The work will start Wednesday and take eight days to finish, the agency said in a prepared statement.
The signal was removed in July as part of a bid to improve traffic flow.
DOTD officials said that, after monitoring the impact of the change, they decided to return the signal.
Critics said that, since the traffic signal was removed, the intersection has been the site of near daily accidents.
Critics who travel through the area had launched a petition drive asking DOTD to replace the light.
The work was part of a series of steps aimed at improving traffic on Burbank Drive.
