Washington – In an effort to elect more centrists to Congress, former U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-New Orleans, is joining with other moderate ex-senators to raise money for candidates who share their political philosophy, USA Today reports.

Landrieu was defeated for re-election in 2014 by Bill Cassidy, R-Baton Rouge. She served three terms in the Senate, and was ranked among the least left-leaning of the Senate Democrats.

Landrieu, who has owned a house near the Capitol in Washington for several years, works as a D.C. lobbyist.
