Washington — President Barack Obama effectively defended ISIS and other radical Islamist groups by comparing then to medieval Crusaders in a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast , U.S. Rep. John Fleming, R-La., said on the radio last week.

Fleming, who has said we wants to succeed David Vitter, R-La., in the U.S. Senate if Vitter is elected governor this fall, said Obama’s “unpresidential” remarks were “weird.” Fleming was interviewed on the Family Research Council’s Washington Watch program.

Obama’s comments about those in the past who committed “terrible deeds in the name of Christ,” such as the Crusades and the Inquisition, have drawn widespread criticism, including from Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.
