Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz plans Baton Rouge stop on same day as John Bel Edwards' inauguration _lowres

Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz is set to make an appearance in Baton Rouge on Monday.

The gathering is set for Monday from 3 p.m. -5 p.m. at the Baton Rouge Marriott.

The announcement was made by Bob Reid, spokesman for the Tea Party of Louisiana LLC.

Cruz’s visit is scheduled for the same day that Gov. elect John Bel Edwards takes the oath of office at the State Capitol.

Louisiana’s presidential primary is set for March 5.

Cruz is a U. S. senator from Texas.
