A group called Women in Politics will hold its third annual “spiritual enlightenment breakfast” at 9 a.m. Saturday.
The gathering is scheduled for the LSU Student Union, Independence Room 303.
The speaker will be Carol G. Rowe, who is co-founder of the Upperroom Bible Church in New Orleans and Slidell.
Rowe also is the founder of “The Good Life Ministries,” which is an outreach of the church.
Officials affiliated with the group include Carolyn Hill, of Baton Rouge, a member of the state Board of Elementary and Secondary Education; state Senate President Pro Tem Sharon Weston Broome, D-Baton Rouge; state Rep. Regina Barrow, D-Baton Rouge; state Rep. Patricia Smith, D-Baton Rouge; and state Sen. Yvonne Dorsey Colomb, D-Baton Rouge.
Others include Chauna Banks-Daniel, C. Denise Marcelle, Donna Lewis and Tara Wicker, all members of the Metro Council.
Hill said the founder of the annual meeting is Baker City Councilwoman Joyce Burges, and Britney Temple will be the mistress of ceremony.
