State Rep. Patricia Smith spent several hours in a Baton Rouge emergency room Monday after being involved in a car accident.

Smith, D-Baton Rouge, said she was headed to her campaign office when, near LSU, another car struck the passenger side of her truck.

She said her vehicle spun and deployed her airbag.

“I’m doing all right,” Smith said after being discharged from the hospital.

Smith is seeking re-election Oct. 22. She has one opponent: Democrat Lorri Burgess.

With two weeks left before the election, Smith said she will continue campaigning despite being sore from the accident.

“I’m going to have to do it as much as I can,” Smith said.
