Signs would have to be posted near red light cameras or any fines could be negated under a bill that moved within one step of final approval Monday.
The measure, Senate Bill 357, would require municipal or parish authorities to post signs within 500 feet that says a red light camera is present.
Failure to do so would prohibit authorities from using any photographic or video evidence to collect civil or criminal fines or fees.
The bill, which earlier won Senate approval, was endorsed by the House Transportation Committee.
It next faces action on the House floor.
