Newly elected State Treasurer John Schroder called his first Bond Commission meeting to order Thursday morning.

Unlike previous commissioners, Schroder started the meeting on time. Without comment, Schroder went directly to business  and his first action was to accept the previous meetings hearings. The Bond Commission then plowed through its agenda of elections for revenues to secure loans for infrastructure improvements.

The former Republican Covington representative, who first started running for the office last year, was elected Nov. 18 in a statewide vote in one of the lowest turnout elections in state history. He replaced longtime treasurer John N. Kennedy, who resigned in January after being elected to the U.S. Senate.

Schroder officially was sworn in as treasurer last week.
