Republican David Vitter’s latest campaign adfeatures Duck Dynasty’s Willie Robertson and continues Vitter’s theme of redemption in the wake of his 2007 prostitution scandal.

“I know he’s made some mistakes, but who hasn’t?” Robertson says gesturing toward Vitter as folksy music plays in the background. “The whole story of The Bible is about redemption.”

Both dressed in camouflage, the two joke about Vitter growing a beard, a la the ones that have defined the Monroe-based Duck Dynasty family and their A&E reality show.

Robertson also has said he backs current Gov. Bobby Jindal in the presidential race.

The Robertson clan notably supported former Congressman Vance McAllister but later turned against him after he was caught kissing a staffer on leaked security footage. A Robertson cousin, Zach Dasher, challenged him in his reelection bid that Ralph Abraham went on to win.

Vitter, who faces Democrat John Bel Edwards in the Nov. 21 runoff, has been faced with repeated questions and innuendo about his “very serious sin” since his number was connected to the D.C. Madam in 2007. Edwards has used the sex scandal in a scathing ad released last week.
