Melanie “Miss Mel” Bueche is running for re-election to the Pointe Coupee Police Jury District 6 seat in the Oct. 22 primary election.

Bueche, a Republican currently serving as the Police Jury president, has represented District 6 for the past 16 years.

“The job of a public servant is not easy one,” Bueche said. “Everyone may not agree with my decisions, but I did the best that I could do. I have always strived to do what was right, what was fair.”

Bueche said she is a principled woman committed both to her job as a police juror and also to her family, which includes her husband, sons, mother and grandchildren.

In 16 years as a public servant, Bueche said, she’s proud that her constituents can always reach her, and that she always tells them the truth even if it’s not what they want to hear.

“Truth, honesty and dedication are my platform,” Bueche said. “Always and forever, you can count on me.”

District 6 includes Lakeland, Oscar, the rural Livonia area and the rural Maringouin area near the Iberville Parish line.
