A U.S. representative for Louisiana said he's ready to replace David Vitter if the U.S. Senator is elected governor next year.

Rep. John Fleming, a republican representing the fourth congressional district in the northwest part of the state, is "very interested" is running for Vitter's potential slot in 2016, according to a RollCall.com report.

Vitter has already made it known he plans to run for governor in 2015.

"I think that we need, you know, Sen. Vitter is quite conservative, and I think we need to replace a good strong conservative with another conservative," Fleming said in the report.
