Wednesday was the deadline for Louisiana residents to register to vote so they can participate in the Oct. 24 governor’s primary election.

The deadline was for people who have never registered to vote as well as those who wanted to make changes in their registration such as party affiliation or where they reside.

“There are more than 600 races statewide, ranging from governor to city council, up for grabs in October. The only way for your voice to be heard is to register and vote,” Secretary of State Tom Schedler said.
