The number of Louisiana House seats to be determined in the Nov. 21 runoff election has dropped to 14.

House District 60 candidate James Barker of Plaquemine withdrew from the race, giving Chad Brown, a Plaquemine Democrat, the victory.

Brown, an attorney, led a four candidate field in the Oct. 24 primary with 46 percent of the vote. Barker, an other party candidate and Iberville Parish sheriff’s deputy, came in second with 26 percent..

District 60 – which includes Iberville and Assumption, had no incumbent because state Rep. Karen St. Germain, a Pierre Part Democrat, could not seek re-election because of term limits.
