There are 10 special interests lobbying the Louisiana Legislature for each lawmaker, a new analysis has found.

The nonprofit Center for Public Integrity, as part of a project on influence in state government, analyzed 2010-2014 lobbying registration data from all 50 states.

Only 11 states had higher lobbying-to-legislator ratios than Louisiana, according to CPI. In California, the state with the highest average, there are 30 entities lobbying for each lawmaker.

Based on the number of lobbyists each entity had during the 2010-2014 period, CPI calculated the top five entities lobbying in Louisiana as: AT&T, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Louisiana Oil & Gas Association, Coalition for Common Sense and Centerpoint Energy.
