The state Senate Tuesday continued to impose stricter controls on rules that allow film and television producers to receive generous subsidies from taxpayers.
Senate Bill 102 would not permit tax credits for more than 50 percent of the so-called above the line expenses that go to directors, actors and other high-salaried employees.
Senate Bill 106 would authorize the state to recapture tax credits awarded to individuals later found guilty of defrauding the program. It also would allow the state to debar these individuals from the program.
The sponsor of both bills was state Sen. J.P. Morrell, D-New Orleans, who also sponsored five other measures approved by the Senate last week that revamp the film tax credit program.
All seven measures are now awaiting approval by House legislative committees.
