Driver’s license renewals would be once every six years under a measure advanced Tuesday by the Louisiana House on Tuesday.
House Bill 1252 would extend the current four year requirement.
The House voted 96-0 for the change.
“Other states do it,” said HB1252 sponsor state Rep.Franklin Foil , R-Baton Rouge. “State police brought this to my attention. It will ease the line and time people have to spend in the Office of Motor Vehicles”
Foil said Texas has a six year renewal.
The bill now heads to the state Senate.
