A bill designed to discourage school workers from lighting up cigarettes received final legislative passage Friday.

The Louisiana House voted 94-0 in favor of Senate Bill 514. The bill prohibits smoking within 200 feet of a private or public school.

State Rep. Jeff Arnold, D-New Orleans, said the purpose of the bill is to discourage smoking among school staff. The bill now goes to the governor for his approval.
