Jones has been serving as a floor leader for fellow Democrat Edwards. The former Franklin mayor and former aide to Gov. Kathleen Blanco, Jones has been serving as Edwards’ legislative floor leader.

Fellow Democratic representatives, Pat Smith, of Baton Rouge, and Robert Billiot, of Westwego, led the House in singing “Happy Birthday” to Jones.

He went to podium to thank his colleagues and to out Rep. Jerome Zeringue, R-Houma, who also had a birthday Monday.
