A Louisiana House-passed measure that would ban use of photo speed enforcement devices on Louisiana’s interstate highways neared final legislative passage Wednesday.

The Senate Transportation and Public Works Committee - without objection - sent House Bill 896 to the Senate floor for approval.

“We caught wind of a company approaching different local entities asking them to set up these on the Interstate,” explained sponsor state Rep. Mike Danahay, D-Sulphur.

Danahay said he didn’t want people visiting Louisiana going home and having speeding citations waiting for them.
