The Louisiana Senate approved Thursday a reworked bill that would provide funding for the Crescent City Connection bridge over the Mississippi River in New Orleans.

The state Senate voted 39-0 for legislation that would permit a state income tax checkoff for donations to the bridge lighting project and the operation of New Orleans ferries.

House Bill 416 got the ferry rider on its path through the state Senate.

The House-passed legislation, sponsored by state Rep. Patrick Connick, R-Marrero, returns to the House for approval of the Senate change.
