The National Weather Service says Friday's forecast calls for 70 percent to 90 percent chance of rain, ending Friday night, followed by clearing skies Saturday.

Strong winds are the main threat if severe storms develop on Friday. Some areas could see 1-3 inches of rain, possibly leading to standing water in low-lying areas and areas of poor drainage.

By mid-morning, some streets in New Orleans were flooding, and power outages were reported in some areas.
