Despite steady rains Thursday that have closed several roads in north Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge Parish schools are continuing with their normal schedule, including after school activities, said a spokeswoman for the the school system.
But the school system is canceling after-school activities due to weather for its elementary schools, said Adonica Duggan, a spokeswoman for the school system.
"A few isolated reports of standing water on low campuses but nothing that is causing shifts in afternoon schedules," said spokeswoman Adonica Duggan.
Looking at the same weather, several charter schools have decided to close early for the day.
Duggan said that the school system is monitoring road closures and its effect on buses that take kids home. She also said the Northeast area, home to a middle an elementary and a high school, is also being watched closely, she said.
Individual schools may decide in their own to cancel or cut short after-school activities, Duggan added.
