Seventy homes in Baton Rouge were still without electricity Sunday afternoon because of downed power lines and utility poles from Saturday’s storm, said Sheila Pounders, Entergy regional customer service manager.
As many as 28,000 Entergy customers in the Baton Rouge metro area lost power Saturday, Pounders said.
While power was restored to most homes in Baton Rouge by early Sunday, Entergy expected the last 70 customers to regain power by about 6 p.m. Sunday, Pounders said.
Another 100 Zachary homes still lacked power around 5 p.m. Sunday after another storm hit late Saturday night, Pounders said.
Pounders said 24 homes in Gonzales and 21 in Port Allen were without power as of that same time.
The Zachary, Port Allen and Gonzales homes were all expected to regain power by 7 p.m. Sunday, Pounders said.
“We actually pulled crews from Hammond and metro New Orleans to help us get (Gonzales) back in,” Pounders said.
DEMCO spokesman David Latona said all DEMCO users in the Baton Rouge metro area who lost power from Saturday’s storm had power restored by Sunday evening.
East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said the only calls her department received Saturday or Sunday dealt with house alarms set off by the storm.
