This week we presented a series of unusual weather occurrences that began with a historical report of falling fish in Marksville. Today’s example could be referenced to the Flintstones, entitled “Pebbles and Bam-Bam.” On this date in 1973, “The Almanac of the Infamous, Incredible and Ignored,” presented a story about two fishermen in Upstate New York. Their expedition was interrupted by three large rocks, falling from the sky and splashing their boat; followed by a shower of pebbles. As they scurried to their car for cover, and believing that the episode was over, a second pebble-shower erupted. Seeking shelter in a local “watering hole,” pebble-showers continued. A final shower added to their trek home as they arrived safe but stoned.
