BATON ROUGE PRESS CLUB: Lunch served at 11:30 a.m., De La Ronde Hall, 320 Third St., downtown. LSU Agricultural Center seafood specialist Lucina Lampila will speak. Lampila will discuss the safety of the seafood coming from the Gulf of Mexico. Seafood from this location is the most tested seafood in the United States. Yet the perception still lingers that it is somehow not as safe as it was before the April 2010 BP oil leak. Lunch is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. The public is invited, but only members of the Press Club and members of the news media are allowed to ask questions during the question-and-answer portion of the program.
REFLECTIONS IN THE GARDEN: Noon to 1 p.m., Burden Conference Center, 4560 Essen Lane. Topic for the 1st Monday at Burden Lecture Series will be “Gardening Green: Low Input/High Input.” Free for Burden Horticulture Society members; $5 for nonmembers.
