The top story in The Advocate’s Metro Section recently had the headline “Denham man had history of abuse.” Please identify Denham Springs as Denham Springs — NOT Denham, the slang version. When you refer to Baton Rouge, you don’t identify it as Baton … or … Rouge! Or New Orleans as New … or … Orleans. Or Port Allen as Port … or … Allen. Or False River as False … or … River. You get the idea? I know even residents of Denham Springs tend to call it Denham, for short. This is a very disrespectful exercise for this upscale, respected newspaper to resort to slang.
