Advocate staff photo by BILL FEIG -- Exterior of the restaurant at Bergeron's Boudin and Cajun Meats in Port Allen. The restaurant has been getting some national media attention over owner Kevin Cox's 10 percent discount to any gun-toting customer that eats at his establishment.

Mr. Gill, which is more likely?

Your little fictional rhetoric concerning the Port Allen restaurant that discounts food for gun carriers was interesting yet incomplete. Do you really feel it is even remotely possible that a lot of folks would be killed or maimed in a shootout there?

Or is it more likely a thug comes in, shoots the cashier, then proceeds to shoot others and thus the culprit would be blown away on the spot? Or, do you think that having the knowledge that the place is covered with armed patrons, the thief might just pass it by?

I know that shooting him on the spot would deprive him of his civil rights such as right to remain silent, right to an attorney, right to a 10-year trial by his peers, etc., but smacking him before he smacks you is justified by most sane people.
