In January 2013, the Capital Area Transit System started receiving millions in new property tax. First thing that CATS did was spend $1.4 million to install a GPS system on the buses so riders would know EXACTLY where the buses were located so we wouldn’t have to wait on the side of the road for late buses.
Sixteen months later and hundreds of thousands dollars more, not only can’t the riders locate the buses, but if you call CATS, they have trouble finding the buses. They still have to call the bus on the radio to find them. If you listen to the new CEO, he blames everybody from the former CEO to the drivers for the failed GPS. After 16 months, it’s time to demand a refund from the company who installed the GPS.
