The long-awaited opening of the Jefferson Parish Performing Arts Center promises to be a catalytic event in the history of our parish. This state-of-the-art facility provides another asset that will enhance the quality of life enjoyed by our residents.

In the near future, Jefferson Parish will reap the benefits of the recently announced $250 million expansion of the Ochsner campus, the continued development of Gretna into a highly sought after residential and commercial location, the development of the Fairfield site on the West Bank, the conversion of the Louis Armstrong Airport terminal into a first-class facility, the conversion and enhancement of Fat City, marked improvement in public education and beautification of highly traveled thoroughfares. These developments, along with others and established parish assets, bode well for the future of the parish.

The performing arts center will be a centerpiece for an invigorated Jefferson Parish. Congratulations to Dennis Assaf for his persistence in making his dream become a reality. Also, there is no doubt that the late Sen. Ken Hollis, a driving force in making this happen, will be beaming with pride as the first show goes on.
