We’d like to thank the fans from LSU who attended the football game versus our Tennessee Volunteers here in Knoxville, Tenn. Clearly, our team was beaten on the field (only in the second half); however, the camaraderie established with your fans will endure.

We met some of the finest college football fans in the nation. You were polite, generous, and fun-filled individuals. We’ve met, and hosted, fans from many teams over the years, and LSU fans exemplify the concept of sportsmanship. Maybe you can rub off on those Florida zealots?

Several members of your Tiger Athletic Foundation experienced the “VOL Navy” aboard the “Bikini Atoll” boat, docked at Calhoun’s on the waterfront. We were glad to have them. We learned about your city, your culture, and your love of college football. How better to make new friends than to invite your opponent aboard?

We trust our TAF guests will read this letter to the editor with pride. They are fine individuals, industry leaders and important donors to your university.

Best of luck on a great season; you are ranked No. 1 for a reason. You’d be surprised that our collective reasoning doesn’t involve your football team, but rather your fans.

Next time, please consider bringing an asset such as Gov. Bobby Jindal. A+++
