On Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., Our Schools … Our Excellence will host the second Assembly on Excellence. It will be held at the Beacon Light of Baton Rouge, 7513 Prescott Road.

Several people met on Aug. 16 at the Oasis Christian Church, and many goals and objectives were discussed regarding local schools in the North Baton Rouge area.

The meeting invites community residents and focuses on developing action plans to move Our Schools … Our Excellence forward. The overall concentration is “Defining Excellence in Education.”

The first assembly commenced with a welcome given by local students, and there were breakout sessions with discussions on North Baton Rouge public schools.

The topics that will be discussed at the second forum will be parental engagement, community involvement, youth involvement and communications.

OSOE Community Compact was able to reach a goal of 1,500 signatures across the Baton Rouge community.

The following mandates have been identified regarding North Baton Rouge K-12 public schools: achieve student success; recruit, reward and empower proven talent; involve parents; and support students.

Plan to be at the second forum to be held on Tuesday. Invite a friend, co-worker, neighbor and engage in action plans to keep our local schools as a top priority in the Baton Rouge Community. Every child deserves an excellent education and we must develop ways to ensure our students get the best forms of education. Come out and be a part of Our Schools … Our Excellence. Together, we can make a difference.
