If I switched to reusable bags, I would have to buy plastic bags for garbage, since our garbage service requires us to bag garbage placed in our carts. I believe this helps to keep it contained to prevent it from blowing around on the street, and keeps the carts themselves from becoming nasty.

I use two grocery bags for each bundle to avoid buying heavier-grade bags. “GIGO,” as we housewives say: “Groceries in, garbage out.”
