The media attention to the citing of Mandeville Mayor Donald Villere for urinating on the Causeway Bridge is excessive and ridiculous.

Anyone with prostate or bladder issues — or who drinks the eight to 12 glasses of fluid per day required for good health — or way too much coffee — can understand the urgency this man faced.?What other solution would have been satisfactory?

I would hope the bridge patrol would focus on safety: speeders, disabled vehicles, weaving drivers, threatening weather and even dumping of kittens.?While I do not think Villere’s position excuses him from the law, making him headline news for this slip is just sensationalism.

If public urination is so newsworthy, get ready for a Mardi Gras news bonanza. Perhaps establish a special website:
