I recently read Stephanie Grace’s editorial, “Helping people isn’t going out of style for Edwards,” and believe we are finally on the right path with a governor who believes that “government has a role in improving people’s lives.” Another Louisiana politician who believes in the important role government plays in our lives is Rep. Cedric Richmond, D-New Orleans. Recently, he co-sponsored the Health Outcomes, Planning and Education (HOPE) for Alzheimer’s Act, which will help provide coverage for comprehensive care planning services to Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers. We are fortunate that Rep. Richmond fights for those who cannot always fight for themselves. This could be a happier and healthier new year — with Edwards and Richmond working at the state and national levels for a more resilient Louisiana! This is critical since the 2015 America’s Health Rankings show Louisiana ranked last in the nation.
