Every year in Baton Rouge, I take my 5-year-old daughter to the Christmas parade. We always get a group of us with children and go.

This year was different. At the parade, the adults would trample over the children to get beads and candy. They didn’t care.

My child got hurt and cried because adults were stepping on top of her and the other children to get to the floats. We were in the front and my child got a handful of things — and bruises all over her.

The parade is for the children. It was sad and unreal. We will never go back again unless there is something we can do about this.

To all those adults who think it’s OK to trample over children for plastic beads and candy, bah humbug!
